Ruth Virginia Woods, formerly Vance, passed away on May 17, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 3, 1922. Ruth was a kind and thoughtful person who always put others first. Her warm and uplifting personality touched the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Ruth had a good sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or a smile to make someone's day brighter. She was attentive to the needs of others and took pleasure in making sure everyone around her was comfortable and happy. She had a huge heart and was always willing to lend an ear or offer a helping hand.
Ruth's proudest accomplishments included earning the Teacher of the Year award in 1997 for her work with the Weber County School District and spending time volunteering with children in her church congregation. Her dedication to teaching and volunteer work made a difference in countless lives.
In her free time, Ruth loved to spend time with her grandchildren, baking cookies, and crocheting gifts for those she cared about. She always had cookie dough in the freezer ready to bake at a moment's notice. Ruth also enjoyed tending to her flower garden and reading mystery novels.
Ruth is survived by her son David Woods, her daughter Marie Harmon, and numerous grandchildren who were the light of her life. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on June 29, 2022 at Sonzini Mortuary in Ogden, Utah. A graveside service will take place at Centerville Cemetery in Hamden Connecticut on March 11th, 2023 at 4:00 PM.
