Marissa was notable for her impressive educational accomplishments, having recently earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from XYZ University. She distinguished herself as a dedicated student, receiving the Outstanding Academic Achievement award in 2010. Her academic journey was a testament to her hard work and ambition, which she approached with a passion for learning that inspired those around her.

Prior to her academic pursuits, Marissa proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years, attaining the esteemed rank of Colonel. Her service during the Gulf War earned her significant accolades, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for her bravery in combat. Marissa's dedication to her country and her commitment to her fellow service members were qualities that defined her character and life’s work.

In her personal life, Marissa treasured the time spent with her family, particularly during the holidays. She was known for her delightful apple pie, a family tradition every Thanksgiving that brought loved ones together and created lasting memories.

Marissa had a deep appreciation for rare books, often immersing herself in the joy of collecting new additions, exploring bookstores and auctions with great enthusiasm. This hobby revealed her inquisitive nature and her love for stories, both old and new.

She leaves behind her beloved sister, Sarah Johnson, and her brother-in-law, Tom Johnson, as well as a close friend, Rachel Lee, who will forever cherish the moments they shared together. Marissa is reunited in spirit with her parents, Susan Smith and John Smith Sr., along with her brother, James Smith, all of whom have predeceased her.
