Well folks, it’s with a heavy heart and a lump in my throat that I gotta let y’all know about the passing of our beloved Makenna Wimsatt. This here gal was a real powerhouse, who tore through life like a tornado through a trailer park. Makenna left this world on April 1st, 2023, but let me tell ya, her impact was no joke, and she’ll be missed like a cold beer on a hot summer day.
Makenna wasn’t just your average Joe; she wrangled a Master’s degree in Business Administration from XYZ University and snagged the Outstanding Academic Achievement award back in 2010. That right there is a testament to her hard work and tenacity. Ain’t many folks can say they walked that walk.
Now y’all may not know, but Makenna spent 20 years serving our great country in the United States Army, where she rose up to the rank of Colonel. That there’s no small feat, ya hear? She fought like a lion during the Gulf War and brought home some shiny medals – the Bronze Star and Purple Heart – which is something we can all tip our hats to. That bravery in combat is something to truly admire.
But she wasn’t just all about medals and degrees. Makenna had a heart as big as Texas, volunteering regularly at the local homeless shelter, feedin' folks and givin' 'em some good ol' support when they needed it most. Her dedication earned her the Volunteer of the Year award, and boy, did she deserve it! She was the kinda person who would give ya the shirt off her back, and her spirit will live on in all those she helped.
Left behind to mourn are her sister, Sarah Johnson, and her brother-in-law, Tom Johnson. Also carrying a piece of her heart with them is Rachel Lee, her close friend. Y’all are gonna have a tough time gettin' through this, but remember, Makenna wouldn’t want ya cryin’ too hard. She’d want you to raise a glass in her honor and keep on truckin’.
If you wanna pay your respects, there's gonna be a viewing at Sonzini Mortuary in Ogden, Utah on February 10th, 2100. Starts at 8:00 AM, so don’t be late or you might miss out on some good stories about this remarkable gal.
Rest easy, Makenna, and thank ya for your service, your kindness, and all the laughs. You might be gone, but you sure ain’t forgotten.
