Evelyn Carter, a cherished and wise soul, passed away peacefully at the age of 88, surrounded by her devoted family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose memory will be held dearly by all who were blessed to know her. Evelyn’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and the beauty of a life well-lived.
Born with an innate ability to brighten any room, Evelyn carried her infectious laughter and warm spirit throughout her many years. Her presence brought comfort and joy to everyone around her, and she remained a pillar of strength and love for her family.
Evelyn had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, a love that she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Even in her later years, she could be found tending her garden, admiring the beauty of the flowers she nurtured, or sitting quietly on her porch, watching the sunset. Her family fondly recalls stories of camping trips, picnics, and strolls through the park, where she taught them to appreciate the simple, natural wonders of life.
Music was another cornerstone of Evelyn’s life. A talented singer in her youth, she continued to share her melodious voice during family gatherings, church services, and special occasions. Her gentle humming often filled her home, creating an atmosphere of peace and love. Her passion for music became a legacy, with her grandchildren following in her footsteps, singing the hymns she loved.
Winters were a magical time for Evelyn, who cherished the traditions of the season. In her younger years, she loved ice skating and would recount stories of twirling on the rink under twinkling lights. As she grew older, she delighted in watching her family enjoy those same traditions, her laughter and joy as vibrant as ever.
Evelyn is survived by her children, David Jr. (and wife Sarah), Michael (and wife Anne), and Susan (and husband James); her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her lifelong friends and neighbors, who became part of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, David, and her parents, who shaped the remarkable woman she became.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the Lakeview Community Center at 2 PM. The family invites all who knew her to join in sharing stories, laughter, and memories of a life that touched so many.
