In the gentle embrace of the morning light on January 9th, 2024, Ethan “EJ” Jones, a vibrant young cowboy hailing from Layton, Utah, embarked on an everlasting journey into the great unknown. Born on June 29th, 2000, amidst the scenic backroads and breathtaking sunsets characteristic of Layton, EJ blossomed into a multifaceted individual—a dedicated Eagle Scout, a covert agent serving his country with pride as a spy for the CIA, and an adept gaming champion, unrivaled in his prowess at "Call of Duty" and "Counter-Strike," displaying the finesse of a seasoned gunslinger.
EJ's life was a grand narrative woven with adventure, laughter, and an unwavering love for the great outdoors, sports, and those closest to his heart. He filled his saddlebags with steadfast principles, beginning his professional journey at Barbarosa Foods, where he momentarily set aside his cowboy spurs. Not long after, he found fulfillment alongside his father at Sephora UDC in West Valley, Utah. For three years, he devoted himself to this path, which ultimately led him to Tukios—a Christian venture based in Ogden, Utah—where he flourished until a tragic turn of fate altered the course of his journey.
Beyond the realm of work, EJ was a beloved brother, husband, father, and true friend. The essence of his spirit radiated most brightly in the company of his loved ones, including his cherished wife, spirited son, and devoted brothers, all captivated by the joy he effortlessly brought into their lives. A die-hard enthusiast of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Boston Celtics, EJ relished every opportunity to support his teams, often losing himself in the electric atmosphere of the games.
Endowed with a delightful sense of humor, EJ's joyful persona was complemented by an infectious smile that lit up the canyons and valleys he treasured most. His laughter intertwined with the gentle breezes of the wilderness, leaving a vibrant legacy that will resonate long after the echoes of his adventures fade away.
Regrettably, the chapter of EJ's spirited existence drew to a close following his fateful encounter with an Arizona Ranger. Yet, his indomitable spirit will forever gallop through the hearts of those who love him. He is survived by a multitude of cherished family and friends who carry forth his memory, alongside the embracing souls of his grandparents—grandfather J Stephen Jones and grandmother Ruth Johnson—awaiting him with open arms in the great beyond.
In celebration of EJ's remarkable life, a gathering for all who held him dear will be convened at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary on May 11th, 2025, where he will be laid to rest at 9:00 in the morning. That evening, the Delta Center in Salt Lake City will host a Celebration of Life, commencing at 9:00 PM, inviting all to raise their glasses in honor of EJ—the legend whose laughter and spirited mischief will resonate like a sweet melody in the annals of time.
Rest peacefully now, dear EJ, for the trails of heaven await your vibrant spirit, and the stars will shine even brighter in your honor.
