From an early age, Brysen exhibited a unique flair, shadowed by his unconventional path as an outlaw. Yet, intertwined within this complex character was a heart that was kind and welcoming, effortlessly making others feel at ease. His sense of humor, rich and abiding, brought joy to those privileged to know him, creating lingering smiles and hearty laughter in the hearts of family and friends.
His dedication extended far beyond his later pursuits; Brysen proudly served in the United States Army for two decades, achieving the rank of Colonel. His valor and unwavering commitment were recognized through prestigious honors, including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, earned during his honorable service in combat during the Gulf War. These accolades stood testament to his bravery, serving as a beacon of inspiration for those around him.
Brysen’s academic journey culminated in a Master’s degree in Business Administration from XYZ University, where he was heralded with the Outstanding Academic Achievement award in 2010—a recognition that spoke volumes of his intellect and dedication.
Yet beyond his formidable achievements lay the essence of who Brysen was: a family man at heart. He adored spending time with his family, especially during the festive holidays, where he infused warmth into gatherings through his culinary gift—his famed apple pie, a delightful centerpiece every Thanksgiving. Visitation will be held at Sonzini Mortuary in Ogden, UT, on May 18, 2024, from 8:15 AM until 9:15 AM, followed by a burial at Sonzini 2 in Layton, UT, on May 30, 2024, from 8:15 AM until 9:15 AM. Additionally, another visitation will take place at Sonzini Mortuary on February 26, 2025, from 8:15 AM until 9:15 AM.
Brysen is survived by his loving sister, Sarah Johnson, her husband, Tom Johnson, and his close friend, Rachel Lee. Their memories, entwined with his remarkable spirit, will continue to echo in the halls of their hearts, as they carry forth his legacy of kindness, bravery, and a relentless zest for life.
